NOAH; Release Day Blast By Cristin Harber

Navy SEAL Noah Coleman knows how to do two things well: underwater demolition
and hand-to- hand combat. So renewing his enlistment is a no-brainer until he
receives a message about his cousin’s aggressive terminal cancer. A quick trip home
confirms the worst, which means his niece Bella will become his responsibility.
Elementary school guidance counselor Teagan Shaw has known Bella since her son
announced the two were best friends. The shy little girl is also on Teagan’s radar
because of Bella’s early signs of gifted aptitude. But Teagan is more concerned about
the military man thrust into the role of single parent.
While Noah adjusts to civilian life and Eagle’s Ridge, he and Teagan begin forging a
friendship. But Teagan has a secret, a shadowy figure from her past who is intent on
returning to torment her.

Noah drew in a slow breath, searching for the right words. But they didn’t come. Who knew
what those were supposed to be when they’d gone through the heartache that had pitched
them together.
“Teagan.” He pressed them forward until her back met the cedar wood wall. “I have no idea
what I’m doing.”
Her chin tilted up, her lips parting with tiny breaths he wanted to capture with a kiss.
“And that’s foreign to me.” He towered over her, but he gave her enough space that she could
roll away, plenty of room so he could take in more than just her face. But she smelled like
flowers. Not sweet but strong and wild. Noah ducked his cheek to hers, brushing his lips close
to her ear.
Her palms smoothed the front of his Henley. Not pushing away, not grabbing for more.
Together they were back at the same line as in the kitchen earlier. The one they’d both eased
away from. But this time they toed the line, savoring and wondering, testing whether the Do
Not Cross was a figment of their imagination, a simple cautionary tale that they’d concocted for
no good reason, or if hormones and arousal were calling the shots.
Teagan slid her cheek against his mouth, and he stifled a groan.
“Neither do I,” she whispered. “No clue.”
He chuckled quietly, leaning his weight against her. “It’d be easier if one of us knew.”
Pressed between them, her fingernails scratched down his stomach, and he nuzzled his nose
against her neck, breathing against her skin and memorizing how she smelled. Teagan’s soft
murmurs made the hairs on the back of his neck stand, and he let his lips drift to her cheek.
“I’m going to kiss you on one condition,” he whispered.
“What’s that?” Teagan’s breathlessness made his heart pound harder.
He let the rush roll through him then teased her lips with his, not making contact, keeping them
a breath apart. “That neither of us will be sorry.”

“Promise.” Teagan’s fingers tightened against his chest. “I won’t be.”

Half Moon Holler: By Taryn Bradley

Taryn Bradley's debut novel, Half Moon Holler, blew me away!!!! You would never guess this was a debut. It is so very well written.
It's told first person POV, and stays with the same person through the whole book. Usually, I don't care for this style but Bradley pulled it off flawlessly. Even though you only see the characters through Nate's (hero) eyes you get such a good picture of them. You can really see them, their personalities, and I have fallen in love with the whole little town of Half Moon.
And Nate's inner dialogue= life.  His thought train is hilarious.
Half Moon Holler is stand-alone, but it looks like my new favorite community is getting it's own series with some more of these amazing characters I just met and I can't wait!!!!!!!

JAX; Release Day Blast! By Cristin Harber

Seven is an enigma. A motorcycle club princess. The daughter of a notorious gangster. The best friend of the deputy mayor. A coffee shop owner. The single mom of two young, adopted children. She’s colorful, in every way possible—from her attitude to her piercings and bright pink hair—and she’s a woman on a mission with the power to help broker a clean break between a powerful motorcycle club and a South American drug cartel. But not all players are ready for the game to change, including the ones she can’t see like the CIA.
Jax Michaelson has a bad attitude and a good shot. The former Navy SEAL has been on Titan’s problem list for running his mouth since the day he showed up for work, but he does a hell of a job, and they’d never let him go. Call him cocky, that’s fine, because then you’d have to admit he’s the best at anything and everything—except diplomacy.
When Titan is forced into the seedy drug world filled with cartel glitz and Harley-riding MCs, Seven and her family become an unexpected bargaining chip right after she and Jax find a way to stand each other—in bed.
Will friends become lovers? Or are they too far gone to be opposites that attract? Is Jax nothing but a bad boy who leaves her hoping for a military hero when the burden of living as Mayhem royalty backfires and her children disappear.
JAX is a standalone romantic suspense novel by New York Times bestselling author Cristin Harber. It features characters from the Titan, Delta, and Only series, but readers do not have to have read those books to enjoy this one. There's a guaranteed happily ever after and no cliffhanger! Enjoy!

"What kind of name is Jax?"
"Probably the easiest thing my ma could think to shout when she heard she was having a boy. It stood out on a block of Dons and Johns."
"Your neighborhood was filled with porta-potty kids?"
Her humor made him grin. "Guess so. But that was back in the day. Who cares? This place makes me realize I don't know much about you."
She sucked her cheeks in thought. "I don't think you're always a jerkface."
"Good to know, princess. " He gave her a lingering once-over. " I don't think you're always… I'm coming up blank." Or at the very least, he was having a hard time thinking of an appropriate comparison.
It was too dim to see her blush, but she ducked her chin as though she were. After a second that strung between them for miles, Seven regained her unaffected composure. "I slapped you. I think you can come up with at least one thing."
The memory ran to his groin, and Jax rolled his bottom lip into his mouth, letting go with a slow breath. Her slap hadn’t been just a no. It had been a hell no with style. She’d rejected his proposition, but he wasn't positive she was rejecting him.
"Sweetheart, I liked that."
Tension crackled in the few feet between them. The hairs on his skin stood as he waited to see what she would do next, what she would say, and how he would volley it back.
"Don't flirt with me right now," she whispered. "I need a favor." She eased back onto the desk as though she owned the place, crossing her legs.
"Isn't that the best time to flirt?"
Seven rolled her eyes, but she smiled liked the devil sipping sweet tea.
"Careful, beautiful."
A thick wave of magenta hair fell over her cheek, obscuring half her face. "Careful or what?"
Her pink fucking hair was ridiculous but artistic, not too serious. She was like splashes of colors sprinkled with surprises—tongue stud, eyebrow jewels, and a name like Seven.
Jax had no idea what to do about that. "You want to have that conversation right now?" He set the smoothie on the ground. "Because if you want to try again, I’ll dole out whatever consequences we agree to."
Seven's tiny, unexpected gasp made a shiver of anticipation roll through his muscles. Even if Jax hadn't been trained to pick up on microchanges in human behavior, he would've noticed how her breaths quickened despite her best effort to disguise the natural reaction. Jax wanted to feel her pulse, needed to know how far she would let him push her, how much she would trust him.

JAX (The Titan Series Book 11): By Cristin Harber

I've met Jax before this book, but I didn't like him.  We first meet his character in Bishops Queen, and have a few other encounters in Locke and Key, but I didn't like him through all of it. He was such a jerk and I thought there was no way Cristin could turn my opinion of him around. But I WAS SO WRONG.  She did.
She has developed this character so perfectly that I think he might be my favorite team member of all!!!  **shhhhhh Don't tell Javier. Or Grayson. Or Bishop. ssshhhh!** When she brought his love interest in,  I thought "No way." But I was wrong again. Jax and Seven are so perfect for each other!!!  Like, I should really stop doubting little Miss Harber's wordsmithing skills.  (not that I really do anyway, I stalk her too hard for that nonsense. )
Though this is the last book in the Titan series, it will stand alone just fine. You DO NOT have to read all of the other books first. JAX tells Jax and Sevens story perfectly, and doesn't confuse you with other characters backstories. Instead you get gentle introductions, which will make you want to go back and read them all, but it isn't necessary.
All of my usual warnings for romantic suspense still apply here; graphic bloodshed, steamy sexy times with a bad-ass tactical gear wearing alpha male, and a metric sh*t ton of naughty language. ;)  The only extra one to add with this novel is heavy drinking and implied drug use.
Though I am a little sad that this may be the last "Titan" novel, I know this isn't the last of our favorite characters and I can't wait to see what else Harber has in store for us down the road.  *coughs* vroom vroom. ;)

I could have read about Jake & Laura FOR DAYS not just a couple hours. But this is a trilogy, so hopefully we will get more Jake & Laura sprinkles in the next book of the series. She saw him get up from the table, his long, powerful body rising and unfolding. She stood there and allowed her eyes to sweep him from top to toe and back.

God, she had never seen such a man in her life. As he strode toward her, adjusting for those that moved by him, his step never faltered. She locked eyes with him as he walked, and she felt as if the world stopped moving.

When he reached her, they stood for a moment, looking at each other, and Laura prepared for him to say that they were leaving. But instead, he held his hand out toward her, palm up. She glanced at it then looked once more into his eyes.

His murmured “Dance with me” came to her ears, and she was lost.

Excerpt Reveal:
The tears came. She couldn’t stop them, and she hated the path they burned down her cheeks, hated that Ryder was witness to her unraveling, just like he’d been in Russia.
He rested his hand on her back, not speaking, and he didn’t move to shush her. His palm simply rested there.
“Ryder.” She fell against him, and he wrapped his arm around her.
“Easy, love,” he whispered. “Take a breath.”
“I can’t.”
His chin touched the top of her head, and the arms that she knew could hug her like all hell did the job, wrapping her away from the world until the tears stopped.
“Feel better?”
Nodding, Victoria drew in a deep breath, wiping under her eyes. “Could you hand me a tissue?”
He was already halfway off the bed as if reading her mind and handed her the box. Again, Victoria wiped her face. With another fresh tissue to cover her eyes, she could barely look at him.
“This can’t be what you signed up for,” Victoria mumbled. “Sorry.”
“Stop apologizing.”
She balled the tissue up and hazarded a glance in his direction. “Why did you come here?”
“I was worried about you.” Ryder tilted his head back to the bed. “Can I sit again?”
Victoria’s eyes squeezed shut, but she nodded.
“I don’t have to. Never mind.”
She blinked and refocused on him. “What?”
“I didn’t mean to invade your space.”
Her head dropped. Ruined. He saw nothing but a ruined woman who was so fragile he misread what she meant with a simple look. “I didn’t—I wasn’t… I made a face. Or I didn’t mean to make a face.” She cringed. Such a mess! She couldn’t even get her words right. “I sound like an idiot!”
“You don’t.”
“I do. I’m not someone people worry about. Ever. I worry about people. That’s what I do. Did! I took care of people, and now look at me. I’m broken.” A sob caught in her throat. “I thought I was strong, and now, I’m this.”
He came to her bedside, swooping next to her. “Victoria.”
“Something happened to me. Over there.” She sucked a breath as she collapsed against the pillows. “And I can’t.”
He put a careful hand on her forearm. “Listen to me.” He ducked down close. “I don’t know what’s the right or wrong thing to say now, so I’m just going to say this.”
He came closer so their eyes met. His head was almost level with hers on another pillow, but he held her gaze and didn’t let go.
“Please don’t tell me to get up,” she whispered. “To get back to my life.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” Ryder shifted so his weight was semi-on the bed, but he didn’t break their stare. “We brought everyone home, and every girl said you were their savior, that you put yourself in front of guards for them, that you made sure they had food. If nightmares struck, you coaxed them back to sleep. You were their guardian angel in hell.”
Her eyes burned again with tears, but she wouldn’t look away from his emerald ones.
“Whoever you are, love, wherever you’re from, you take as long as you need to get back the strength it took to become you, and I will stay by your side to help you if that’s what it takes.”
“Why?” Her voice broke along with a stray tear.
“Because I admire warriors.”
